GROUP PROGRAM MANAGER

Xbox Live is the leading gamer network spanning console, PC and mobile games and is central to Microsoft’s gaming strategy. Xbox Live powers the breadth of social gaming experiences with Xbox Live clubs, achievements, leaderboards, community hubs, game hubs, game activity feed, and much more. Xbox Live has an exemplary future as it expands to serve many more scenarios where consumers, and creators interact with each other.   Team Xbox is looking for a senior leader to lead Xbox Live as we grow the user base, engagement in this user base, expand the services offered and the reach of the Xbox Live platform to all devices and platforms. As the GPM of Xbox Live, you will lead, mentor and grow a team of talented program managers who are versed in envisioning and delivering service to increase graph growth and engagement. You will work across organizations, collaborating with UX design teams, Microsoft studio leadership, 3rd party publishing team and with many of the teams in WDG, and Identity. You will be required to provide strong leadership, set a clear vision, and maintain results driven culture, and drive Xbox Live adoption by game developers.  

Candidate Responsibilities:

•      Be at the heart of Microsoft’s entertainment strategy, working closely with critical partners including both internal and external premier game developers

•      Work with other leaders to define Xbox Live role as part of the consumer graph for Microsoft

•      Attract, grow and retain top technical PM talent

•      Drive deep collaboration across a complex network of critical dependencies across the company

•      Drive the development of new innovations across Xbox Live  

•      Have the opportunity to solve complex problems that allow for innovative features across multiple devices and services

•      Be a key connection point between the needs of game developers and consumers across Microsoft

•      Drive for a continued focus and commitment on an exceptional game developer experience on Microsoft platforms  

Candidate Requirements:

•      9+ years of related experience with demonstrated success in leading complex software projects

•      5+ years of experience leading medium sized (10+) teams with diverse skills and expertise (e.g. audio, graphics, online services, etc.)

•      5+ years of direct people management experience w/ strong history of career development

•      Experience w/ at least two full shipping cycles of gaming focused products (e.g. Games, Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, etc.)

•      Deep technical knowledge of services  

•      Proven track record of developing strong, integrated partnerships across disparate groups

•      Exceptional communication, collaboration, and negotiating skills

•      Demonstrated track-record of self-directed execution and organizational strategy

•      Desire to innovate, ship, and think creatively about complex problems while maintaining a focus on a profitable business

•      BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent  

Bonus Skills:  

•      Experience with Xbox 360, Xbox One and/or Kinect development or competing platforms

•      A deep passion for the games and entertainment business
