Lighting Supervisor - Turn 10 Studios

Turn 10 Studios, the creators of the top selling and critically acclaimed Forza Motorsport franchise, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lighting Supervisor to join the Art Department.   As a Lighting Supervisor, you will be responsible for defining and driving lighting techniques to achieve state of the art game content.   You will apply a deep and thorough understanding of lighting techniques and a strong sense of color and mood to execute our challenging visual targets. The Lighting Supervisor should be a good communicator who can drive the requisite implementation, training, and execution of a modern lighting pipeline by a group of talented Developers and Artists.  


Responsibilities:    

Collaborate with VFX Supervisor, Art Director and Technical Leads to define and implement a lighting solution and techniques to meet demanding visual targets  

Participate in pre-production planning to determine lighting pipeline and workflow requirements  

Direct the lighting for in-game cars and environments to showcase stunning visuals    

Troubleshoot and solve lighting production issues  

Work with programming and tools teams to develop tools/scripts/plugins to streamline lighting pipeline  

Train a team of on-site and remote artists in the skills necessary to execute the lighting strategy, including delivering documentation of tools and workflow  

Strive to maximize art production performance and predictability  


Qualifications:  

5 or more years of production experience creating real-time, next generation games    


Preferred:

State of the art knowledge of current lighting techniques using offline software renderers (V-Ray preferred) and demonstrated mastery of advanced real-time lighting techniques  

Experience with color grading and effects compositing   Ability to articulate technical needs related to lighting, color, mood and contrast    

A strong understanding of next-generation content creation techniques  

Experience optimizing lighting on massive scenes for real-time performance considerations  

Strong knowledge of one or more major 3D animation packages, 3D Studio Max preferred  

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills  

Work well under deadlines and multi-tasks
