Senior Program Manager

Many millions of users depend on Skype, Skype for Business and now Microsoft Teams for every day instant messaging, conferencing, app sharing and more. As part of Office 365 Core, the Skype Infrastructure PM Team is building massively scalable, highly resilient, geo-redundant systems that allows users and administrators to easily manage the it. The components we ship, and support must be available for many other services to consume at very high rates and with very low latency.


Join the team that powers the entire messaging back-end for Skype, Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams. We develop one of the largest scale, business critical services in Microsoft. Our services run in every region of the world, serving hundreds of millions of active users and billions of requests a day. One of the major goals this year is to revamp and re-architect our services, which will help us get to planet scale and yet have the fastest and best end user experience than our formidable competitors. This includes redesigning the storage, scaling the compute, re-architecting the network protocols, optimizing high volume data feed which powers AI. You will have a chance to work with cutting edge technology including Azure, Schema less DB, Distributed caching, Service Fabric, Big data etc. Every service built must be highly scalable, highly available and extremely performant in geo-redundant multi-tenant systems and honor obligations for data sovereignty, privacy, security and compliance.


The role will involve working closely with our engineering team and partner product groups to investigate and evaluate different architecture choices and prioritize new feature work that will have wide-ranging impact across both our service and Office365. Responsibilities

     · Drive technical discussions and compose specifications to create a scalable, highly available systems and tools across Infrastructure that supports Skype, Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams

     · Participate and drive architecture, design reviews for selected components

     · Partner with other Product and Engineering Groups to drive execution and demonstrate end to end ownership of complex, cross-group projects to successful completion

     · Regularly communicate the progress of projects you drive, risks etc.


Qualifications

     · 7+ years of Program management or relevant experience

     · Successful track record in continuous delivery of cloud-based services and infrastructure

     · Ability to quickly pick up new technologies and industry trends

     · Strong problem solving and communication skills, self-driven and long-term strategic thinkers

     · Knowledge with Azure technologies – a plus

     · Prior experience with Cloud Storage back-end – a plus
