Our Movies & TV app is changing how our Windows fans enjoy video across each of our devices. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft Vancouver to further evolve Movies & TV as a showcase of Windows applications. This technical role will involve collaboration with your team in Vancouver, our studio in Redmond, and our global partner organizations. App updates built by your team will be in the hands of millions of customers within weeks of completing it.  


As a Senior SE that’s part of a combined engineering team, you will be expected to collaborate with your program management and design partners to deliver new experiences with consistently high quality. You should have strong technical skills, prior experience with modern user-experience development, a desire to mentor junior team members, and an ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.


Core responsibilities:


• Engineering – Contribute engineering designs, code, and test collateral throughout the full stack of the Movies & TV app

• Collaborate – Partner with Microsoft Redmond and other global product teams to manage your dependencies, jointly deliver app updates, and continuously improve our engineering and production capabilities

• Communications & planning – Clearly communicate your progress on work you’re doing and improvements to team standards and architecture.

Requirements:


• Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical degree

• At least 6-7 years’ experience writing code with C++

• Applied knowledge of modern end-user application development (XAML, HTML5, or equivalent)

• Experience working through the full product cycle from initial design to final product


Useful Experience:


• Building digital video delivery applications (MPG, H.264, or similar)

• Experience with DirectX and/or MR/VR/AR technologies

• Prior use of SCRUM/Agile development methodologies
