Global Workplace Strategies is a unique and highly strategic group within Microsoft Real Estate and Facilities that understands and demonstrates how the design and use of workplace environments can enhance employee experience and performance to ultimately drive better business performance while simultaneously delivering cost benefits and a positive employee/visitor experience.  

As part of the Global Workplace Strategies (GWS) team, this position specifically needs someone with a demonstrated understanding of architectural space (not just plans on paper) and spatial needs, how workplace strategies are critical to business function, and the role design plays.

Reports to: Global Programs Manager, Global Workplace Strategies, Microsoft RE&F.


Responsibilities:

•      Participate in assessing site specific workplace needs and producing space recommendations for Global Workplace Strategies (Microsoft) using our tool.

•      Coordinate with site Portfolio Managers (MS) and Regional Workplace Strategist to understand workplace needs and business drivers to produce space recommendations

•      Support in the review of real estate occupancy data and metrics for regional sites as needed

•      Understand workplace programming, space guidelines, in order to review and evaluate recommendations effectively

•      Compare and contrast new space program and recommendations with existing space and highlight differences

•      Data collation, and analysis and the creation of summary slides, diagrams, charts, and other written material into presentation decks

•      General support to GWS (Microsoft) and associates related to project and administrative activities

•      Interpret Badge Swipe, Peak Average Attendance and Timed Utilization Study data as part of the space programming process

•      Ad hoc reporting as requested

•      Participate in Long Range Real Estate Planning activities through stakeholder engagement, obtaining critical data points (HC projections, business drivers, etc), and space programming

•      Collaborate with peers in other regions for best practices and lessons learned

•      Administer site specific Timed Utilization Studies, including floor plan route mapping, observer training, data analysis and reporting

•      Participate in GWS Space Programming tools testing and feature assessments, provide feature requests and real time context to the IT team based on needs in the space programming practices

•      Track projects and provide projections for upcoming workload for space programs

•      Awareness of developing and implementing workplace strategies with specific focus on providing space recommendations with/for corporate clients.

•      Understanding of physical architectural space and how it affects human scale and productivity.

•      Demonstrate experience of data collection and analysis.

•      Demonstrate an awareness of trends in workplace environments.

•      Microsoft Office particularly advanced level Excel skills.   Experience of using Microsoft Access or similar databases, or statistics software will be an advantage.

•      Ability to read and understand architectural floor plans and elevations

•      Design and space planning experience

•      Good interpersonal skills and a team player

•      Good personal time management and ability to manage competing priorities.   Comfort with working in ambiguous situations


Other Requirements:

•      As a regional role, this job will require the selected employee to be willing to participate in calls with members of our Global RE&F team across the globe taking into account a range of time zone requirements.   As a result the job will require participating in a number of regularly scheduled calls that will take place late at night or early in the morning.

•      Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous strategic projects and/or large-scale cross-group initiatives, while having the ability to work independently and adhere to timelines and commitments in a multi-task, unstructured environment.

•      This job will require between 10% and 25% travel globally.

•      PowerPoint, Excel, Word, AutoCAD capability essential.


Candidate Profile:

This position requires current experience (3+ years) in Workplace Planning on a global basis.  

Bachelor Degree required, MA or MBA preferred

Field of Study (if applicable):      Architecture, Interior Design, Environmental Psychology,

Professional Training and Certification, MCR or CPM certification desirable but not required.  

Cultural and language fluency - Bilingual or multilingual in English, and: a second European language desirable, but not required.
