VFX Artist - Gears of War - The Coalition

The Real-Time Cinematics VFX Artist is responsible for creating and implementing high-end real-time visual FX.   They must collaborate with the VFX team and workflow engineers to generate state-of-the-art visual FX in Unreal Engine 4.  


The VFX Artist is expected to liaison with stakeholders from the VFX team and other disciplines to ensure their work meets the team's goals.   The VFX Artist will also be expected to help define the VFX pipeline, while pushing the boundaries of real-time VFX on Xbox One.


RESPONSIBILITIES:  


- Translate reference, concept art, written and verbal direction into real-time VFX.

- Work closely with Cinematics, Art, VFX, Design and Engineering leads.

- Optimize VFX to run within performance limitations.

- Rapid prototyping of VFX in and out of Unreal Engine.

- Creating assets in 3d packages, which may include renders of simulations or 3d models.

- Implementing high end VFX in engine.


REQUIREMENTS:  


- Must have 2+ years of experience in video games, film/television.    

- Deep understanding of real-time VFX techniques.

- Ability to create content pipelines with ease of content creation in mind.

- Experience with one or more 3D packages (Maya, 3dsMax, Houdini) and Photoshop.

- Experience creating VFX shaders/materials.

- Ability to organize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

- Both technically and artistically minded.

- Comfort working with Design and Programming disciplines.

- Desire to push real-time VFX work to the next level, thinking outside of the box.


OTHER ASSETS:  


- Experience shipping AAA games.

- Art-related degree or comparable professional experience .

- Proven ability to work in photo-real art style.

- Experience with Unreal Engine preferred.

- Experience creating Houdini simulations or tools.

- Scripting experience such as Blueprints, Mel or Python
