Senior Design Researcher

Our small, but growing team is looking for a Senior Design Researcher to help us identify new opportunity areas, to derive deep insights about people's needs, wants, and behaviors, and to influence our product strategy and direction. As a senior member of the Design Research team, you'll work in close partnership with designers and product managers and will provide mentorship to the other researchers. There's a lot of room for learning, growing, and stretching beyond your comfort zone.  

Our research spans from generative to evaluative, with a whole lot in between. We rely on creativity and a variety of research methods (interviewing, focus groups ethnography, surveys, competitive product analysis) to figure out what our big customer needs and product opportunities are. We answer interesting questions, have a lot of freedom in how we approach our work, and have a lot of influence over product leadership's decisions (large and small).      


-3+ years of conducting research (formative and evaluative) within academia and/or product organizations

-Broad experience with a wide variety of research methods applied across the product development process

-Experience and passion for scoping murky or abstract research questions into manageable research plans and extracting actionable, roadmap-forming insights

-Strong communication and presentation skills with proven history of influencing teams to action

-Experience in working collaboratively with product design, product management data Science/analytics, and engineering

-Willingness to take initiative, be proactive, and mentor others

-Enthusiasm for a team-oriented, collaborative, and energetic environment      


-Advanced degree in Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field

-Familiarity with quantitative methods, behavioral analysis, and statistical concepts

-Experience collaborating with researchers and cross-functional partners across multiple business units, departments, and organizations
