Senior Software Engineer

Yammer is seeking an experienced software engineer to join the Messaging Engineering team at our San Francisco office. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the web services that power Yammer's backend which handles many millions of requests per day, for users around the world.      


- You have experience building large scale distributed systems  

- You are proficient with at least one object oriented programming language  

- You demonstrate strong sense of ownership and accountability  

- You are able to break down large technical problems and solve them systematically  

- You are enthusiastic to work collaboratively with people across teams      


- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams like Product, iOS, Android, Front End, and Infrastructure to build new product features

- You will design and build software to achieve rapid scale and reliability    

- You will conduct design/code reviews  

- You will mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions  

- You will participate in the Services team on call rotation      


- Proficient with Java or Ruby on Rails  

- Experience with one or more of the following database technologies: HBase, Postgres, Elasticsearch    

- Proven ability to lead technically and drive design and implementation discussions    


- 5+ years of experience in software engineering.

- 1+ years of experience designing and delivering large-scale messaging systems.
