We aspire for hundreds of millions of people to use Microsoft Groove seamlessly across their everyday lives.   Our creative team is growing and we are looking for a Technical Artist to help us create new engaging music experiences for the Windows customer of tomorrow. The Technical Artist's job is enabling artists and designers to work more creatively and efficiently. The creative team is tightly embedded within a multi-discipline product team of program managers, developers and quality engineers. We are a highly collaborative group of product designers, visual / UX designers and motion designers; we are a curious group who value creativity, open idea sharing, and having fun while we work. Most of all, we're motivated by our millions of users. We want them to love our products and we are looking for help defining what that means.  


Responsibilities:    


- Executing the artistic vision of the project and applying your experience directly to the creation of solid artist workflows, automation tools, content pipelines, and asset management.

- Work in multiple areas of the art and design departments and be able to understand the needs of each unique area.

- Identifying, implementing, or inventing the correct technical approach to be able to render the Creative Director's and Art Director's visions on target.

- Working with and seeking feedback from peers and leads.  

- Actively sharing information with the technical art staff across the studio to improve their craft and be successful at Windows Experiences.  

- Providing unique solutions to improve the creative process in a collaborative environment.  

- Supporting the content creation teams with tools, workflow, and pipelines to aid generation and implementation.  

- Contributing to a smooth pipeline from outsourcers to game engine.  

- Meeting project deadlines and goals and being a positive and creative force in the team.

- Passion for invention, real-time technology, and amazing user experiences.  

- Fundamental understanding of digital art processes and production and technical requirements of real-time content development.    


Requirements:    


- 5+ years as professional artist or equivalent experience.

- 2+ years of professional 3D software for content production including 3D modeling, texture production, animation, rigging, A.I. and audio.  

- Minimum of at least one current console generation title as a Technical Artist.  

- Coding, workflow tools and script authoring experience that has reduced the cost of in-house or outsourced content production and pushed creative iteration (including C#/Python/MEL/Adobe ExtendScript/DirectX Shaders (HLSL), etc).    

- 1+ years' experience with modern game engines: Unreal/Unity; Core CG generalist skillset Modeling, UV/Texturing, Rigging, Lighting/Rendering.  


Useful Experience:  


- Unity expertise highly desired.

- Maya, Motion Builder, Cinema4D, Zbrush and Creative Suite.

- AA/BFA preferred.

- Experience with middleware content pipelines.
