SharePoint is often thought of as a web content and document management system, but it is actually a much broader platform of web technologies. Using SharePoint, companies can set up websites, manage documents from start to finish, and publish reports to help everyone make better decisions. SharePoint provides a single infrastructure for business websites to share documents with colleagues, manage projects with partners, and publish information to customers. It’s a platform and an application—a collection of web technologies with a search experience driven by relevance, refinement, and social cues to get at the right information quickly.
