#MicrosoftieSpeaks: The Garage and the Microsoft Global Hackathon: opportunities for innovation for all employees at the company

In this session, you will hear how Microsoft has leveraged “hacking” (that is, working on a new idea or improving a product or process) as a means to cultivate a mindset of innovation, creativity, and growth for employees. You will hear from Susie Kandzor, Director on The Garage team, about how they developed the Microsoft Global Hackathon and other programs – and what they learned along the way. This presentation and Q&A will cover an overview of the Hackathon, how hacking is evolving our business culture, the competencies and benefits of a hacking culture, and some of the nuts-and-bolts of how we support hacking across a global and diverse environment.

Recognize Exclusion, Design for Inclusion

What unnecessary barriers do you (inadvertently) create, and who do they exclude? Bryce Johnson, Inclusive Lead for Microsoft, takes us through Microsoft Inclusive Design principles and shares tips on how you can remove unnecessary friction from your experiences. Bryce initiated and designed the very first Inclusive Tech Lab at Microsoft, a facility where people can explore how individuals with disabilities interact with Microsoft games, services, and devices.

Microsoft Explore Program Info Session 

Are you a first- or second-year university student and interested in both Software Engineer (SWE) and Program Manager (PM) roles? Join Miri Rodriguez,  head of Microsoft’s Intern Program, and Aaron Epps, one of our university recruiters, to learn about our Explore Microsoft Program, a 12-week summer internship program specifically designed to let you gain experience in our different software engineering roles.
