Our mission

    We are committed

At Microsoft we have an inherently inclusive mission – to empower everyone on the planet. We think of diversity and inclusion as core to our business model, something which informs our actions and can impact economies and people around the world. There are billions of people who want to achieve more, but have a different set of circumstances, abilities, and backgrounds that often limit access to opportunity and achievement. The better we represent that diversity inside Microsoft, the better we’re able to innovate for those we seek to empower.

    Change starts with you

Fostering a hiring process that is inclusive of candidates with disabilities is a top priority, which is why we’ve made it easier to request accommodations that allow you to fully participate and show your capabilities during the interview.

Whatever your skills, passions, and abilities are, we are here to help you succeed by offering accommodations throughout your interviewing process and future employment.  Our team is trained not only in accommodation coordination, but also on maintaining candidate privacy and confidentiality to enable an unbiased and equitable experience.

Accommodations

  • Recruiting accommodations

  • Workplace accommodations
  • Accommodations are appropriate changes and adjustments to recruiting processes that create an equitable process for candidates with disabilities or that allow a candidate to comply with their religious beliefs.

You may request an accommodation at any time whether you are an internal or external candidate. However, if your request is specific to a screen, online technical assessment, or interview, we kindly ask that you wait until you've been invited to that stage before submitting your request. This helps us tailor the support to the format and structure of your upcoming meeting(s).

Accommodations are very personal and individualized depending on each unique candidate and their circumstances. Examples of some accommodations that we have made for candidates include but are not limited to:

    • Additional time to complete an online technical screen
    • Receiving content in an accessible format
    • Use of a Sign Language Interpreter
    • Real Time Transcriptionist (CART)
    • Automated Captions generated by Teams
    • Scheduling adjustments (longer breaks, extra time)
    • Having documents read to you

Please feel empowered to submit requests for any other support that is needed using the “Other” category and enter the details of your request in the description.

We understand it can be difficult to know what to request before you have full details about the recruiting workflow process or approach so we encourage you to connect with your recruiting partner and/or scheduling partner so they may help assist you with the relevant context during the process.

  • Understanding the diverse and complex needs of our workforce who may require disability support, Microsoft offers a variety of workplace accommodations and resources. We offer sign language interpreters, CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) captioning and Accessibility Partners for the blind, to name a few. Microsoft employees also find a wide range of disability resources including our Disability Inclusion Playbook, community access through our disability-associated Employee Resource Groups, a Disability ERG Summit where members of the community can connect, and helpful channels for requesting accommodations to meet your workplace accessibility needs.
