The Microsoft Taiwan office has been in Taiwan since 1989 with engineering teams first contributing to localized SKU software development, hardware firmware development and certification, and some global product and service development. Today, sales and marketing and engineering organizations co-exist in Microsoft Taiwan, operating in 3 offices located in Taipei metropolitan area and one office in Kaohsiung City. With the AI R&D Center, Microsoft engineering invests in global product and technology development and supports teams that focus on global services, core technology and science research in Taiwan. This is the first major engineering investment in Taiwan. Since its launch, more software and hardware teams have joined and formed the Microsoft Taiwan Development Center.

Microsoft engineering in Taiwan
With the AI R&D Center initiative to land in Taiwan in 2018, Microsoft engineering started to invest in global product and technology development with this initiative.
